Karapetyan Hopes Authorities Will Implement Stockholm Court's Decision

Nar ek Karapetyan, vice president of the Tashir group of companies, hopes that the authorities will implement the Stockholm court's decision regarding the Armenian Electric Networks company.

“International court decisions are not implemented in retrogressive and totalitarian countries,” Karapetyan said in a conversation with journalists today.

“I do not think they will take steps that would mean not implementing the decision. That would pose a major problem for the external economic policy of the Republic of Armenia, which could harm the country’s rating and create a series of other issues. I believe that a government conducting prudent economic policy must eventually agree to the arbitration’s decision to avoid facing new challenges,” added Karapetyan.

It is noted that on July 23, Samvel Karapetyan’s defense counsel announced that his family had won an urgent arbitration case against the Armenian government. The government responded to the international court’s ruling, stating that everyone is obliged to adhere to both Armenian legislation and international agreements, which set the rules and procedures for recognizing and implementing arbitration decisions.
