Levon Ter-Petrosyan Urges Pashinyan to Cancel Rally Decision Before It’s Too Late
The first President of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, wrote on Facebook:
"The last opportunity to avoid bloodshed, Honorable Mr. Prime Minister, while there is still time, cancel your decision regarding the rally in Vagarshapat and immediately release the political prisoners, first and foremost, Bagrat and Mikael Srbasanyan and Samvel Karapetian. I am confident that this step will be viewed not as a sign of weakness by our people and the international community, but as a manifestation of the wisdom befitting a statesman.
Otherwise, Mr. Prime Minister, you will bear sole responsibility for any possible clashes and bloodshed, earning the infamous reputation of Father Gapon.
Lastly, dear compatriots, I urge you to refrain from participating in the rally planned by the Prime Minister in order to avoid its unpredictable consequences. Do not forget that the authorities exist not to exploit you and put you in danger, but to ensure the welfare and security of your families."
