Investigation Concludes in Archbishop Ajapahyan Case

Defense attorneys for Archbishop Mikayel Ajapahyan have announced that the preliminary investigation in the criminal case against him has been officially concluded.

On July 23, 2025, the investigator notified the defense team that the investigation has finished. The examination of the case materials is scheduled for July 24, 2025.

The investigator will submit the indictment to the supervising prosecutor along with the case materials. Within seven days of receiving the indictment along with the materials, the supervising prosecutor will make a decision to confirm the indictment, after which it will be forwarded to the competent court.

Upon receiving the criminal case, the judge will decide within three days whether to accept the case and schedule preliminary hearings. The first court session following the decision on scheduling will be set within two weeks.

During the preliminary hearings, the court will discuss issues related to the measures of restraint applied to the defendant, including their removal, modification, extension, or the application of such measures if none has been imposed.
