The Principal of Yerasxahun School Suspended Amid Embezzlement Charges

The principal of Yerasxahun Secondary School in Armenia's Armavir Province, along with several associated individuals, has been accused of embezzlement. During the period from 2023 to 2025, these individuals, appointed as the school’s renovator, guard, and janitor by the principal, allegedly failed to attend work at all during various times yet received a total of approximately 3 million AMD in salaries for work not actually performed.

Moreover, the principal compiled and certified timekeeping records with his signature and seal, falsely indicating that these individuals had attended work during the specified periods. According to News.am, the principal is facing charges for large-scale embezzlement and official forgery under Article 256 (part 2, points 2 and 3, three episodes) and Article 445 (part 1, three episodes) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. Measures applied include his suspension from office and a ban on leaving the country.

Charges have also been filed against three other individuals who assisted the principal. During the investigation, the defendant has fully reimbursed the damages allegedly caused by the crime, amounting to about 3 million AMD. The preliminary investigation has concluded, and the materials of the case have been sent to the Anti-Corruption Court of the Republic of Armenia with an accusatory conclusion.
