Holy See of Etchmiadzin Issues Statement
The Holy See of Etchmiadzin has issued a statement. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan publicly announced on July 20 his intention to organize a gathering in the central square of Vagharshapat and initiate yet another assault on the Holy See.
The Holy See of Etchmiadzin condemns this attempt to incite attack and violence, which is a blatant interference in the life of the Armenian Church and its self-governance.
We urge the ruling political force to cease this anti-church, illegal campaign and focus on overcoming the serious challenges facing the country. At the same time, we appeal to the relevant state authorities and officials to take all necessary and legal measures to prevent this unlawful event.
The Holy See of Etchmiadzin highly appreciates the pious love and loyalty of our people towards the Mother Church and their zeal in protecting the spiritual center of the Armenian nation and our sacred values.
We call on the children of our nation not to succumb to the provocations of the authorities, to remain vigilant and level-headed, and to unite with faith and a spirit of prayer to confront the trials at hand.
