Fires Raging in Syria Approach Armenian-Inhabited Village

Forest fires in Syria's Latakia province have been ongoing for nearly two weeks. "Gandzasar" reports that the flames have approached the Armenian-populated village of Tivzaghachin.

Local residents have been working for two days to prevent the spread of the fire, which is being complicated by strong winds. The Cilician Catholicosate in Masedonia states that Aram I is keeping a close eye on the ongoing efforts and is in constant contact with the leaders of the local Armenian community.

Moreover, the fires have already caused serious damage to Latakia's forests, agricultural lands, and orchards. Civil defense teams have evacuated numerous families.
