Starmer and Macron Call for Expanded Sanctions Against Moscow
The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, and the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, have called for an expansion of sanctions against Moscow in order to halt the war in Ukraine.
“We clearly need something new... that can impact the Russian economy in a different way,” said Macron.
The two leaders participated via video conference from Rome, where they attended a conference on Ukraine’s reconstruction. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also addressed the gathering, urging allies to increase investments in Ukraine's defense sector.
“As long as Russia intensifies its attacks, we must not face a shortage of funding,” Zelensky stated.
