Saaakashvili: Pashinyan Did in Armenia What I Could Not Do in 2011-2012
The third president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, has stated that by arresting Russian billionaire Samvel Karapetyan, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has accomplished what he could not achieve during his time in power.
“After the unsuccessful war, Pashinyan did in Armenia what I could not do in 2011-2012: he arrested Armenia's 'Ivanishvili'.” This was written by Saakashvili on his Facebook page, referring to the situation when billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili, who gained wealth in Russia, entered politics with his 'Georgian Dream' party, removing Saakashvili's party from power.
According to Saakashvili, the ongoing processes in the South Caucasus are a direct result of Russia's weakening in Ukraine. “Pashinyan has officially adopted the course of EU membership. Baku has begun cooperation with NATO, considering Russia a direct threat and taking active steps to cleanse its political, economic, and cultural space of Russian influence. Moreover, the rapprochement between Azerbaijan and Armenia has begun, which is the heaviest blow to Russia,” highlighted the former president of Georgia.
