Putin Appoints New Acting Minister Following Suicide of Former Official

Today, Vladimir Putin appointed Andrey Nikitin as the acting Minister of Transport, who previously served as the deputy head of the department. Prior to that, he held the position of governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region for over seven years. The presidential decree regarding his appointment has been signed and is now in effect, as reported by Russian media.

Earlier today, it was revealed that Roman Starovoit, who had been the Minister of Transport for just over a year, was relieved of his duties by presidential decree. Subsequently, it has been speculated that he took his own life. It is worth noting that this incident has been followed by another death, that of Andrey Korneichuk, the deputy head of the property management department of Rosavtodor, against the backdrop of news concerning Starovoit’s suicide.
