Ukraine Presents New Sanctions Package Against Russia: Zelensky

“I have just signed a new package of sanctions; these are special sanctions aimed at striking at various Russian financial schemes, particularly cryptocurrency transactions. The sanctions were introduced at the request of the National Bank of Ukraine,” said the President of Ukraine.

He elaborated that since the beginning of the year, only one of the companies subjected to sanctions has enabled Russians to transfer several billion dollars, primarily for the needs of their military-industrial complex.

“Of course, we will put an end to all these schemes. Now that regular financial channels for Russia are closed in many places, they are resorting to cryptocurrency transactions, among other things,” added Zelensky.

The sanctions list includes 60 legal entities and 73 individuals, all citizens of the Russian Federation. Ukraine intends to synchronize these sanctions with EU and other jurisdictions' regimes.

“Next week, we are preparing new decisions regarding the synchronization of sanctions with the European Union. All European packages against Russia must be implemented under Ukrainian jurisdiction,” Zelensky stated.
