Lavrov Explains Why Putin Answered Macron's Call

Lavrov explained why Putin picked up the phone when Macron called him. "The answer is obvious. He is indeed a polite person, a visionary politician who never shies away from dialogue to satisfy certain opportunistic ideological impulses," he said, referring to Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in a conversation with journalist Pavel Zarubin from "Russia 1," who shared a part of the discussion on his Telegram channel.

It is noteworthy that the politicians had a phone conversation on Tuesday that lasted more than two hours. According to the Kremlin's press service, the presidents discussed the situation surrounding Ukraine. Putin reminded that the conflict is a direct consequence of Western policy.

Russia reaffirms its principled stance on possible agreements regarding resolution. The state leaders also discussed the conflict between Iran and Israel, as well as the strikes against the Islamic Republic's nuclear facilities by the United States.

As a reminder, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has arrived in Rio de Janeiro to participate in the BRICS summit. This is the seventeenth meeting of the association's countries at the highest level, which will take place on July 6-7. Lavrov is leading the Russian delegation, and bilateral meetings are scheduled within the framework of the summit.
