Caucasus No Longer Has the Strength to Endure a New Conflict: Erdogan

The President of Turkey expressed hope that the "tragic events in Moscow and Baku" will not cause irreversible damage to the relations between Russia and Azerbaijan. "Turkey has deep diplomatic and strategic relations with both Azerbaijan and Russia. We are closely monitoring the tension and call for restraint," Recep Tayyip Erdogan told journalists upon returning from Azerbaijan, where he participated in the summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization.

Erdogan asserted that Ankara supports both parties in overcoming the tension. "Our priority is to avoid sudden escalations that could disrupt the hard-won stability in a region that has seen enough wars and conflicts. The Caucasus no longer has the strength to endure a new conflict," he said.

It should be noted that Putin has expressed a desire to resolve the existing tensions with Baku and is sending a delegation to Azerbaijan.
