Israel Over Ukraine: Trump's Decision
US President Donald Trump is compelled to redistribute military resources for addressing foreign policy issues, including at the expense of aid to Ukraine, reports the Washington Post. The publication notes that the White House leader has now decided to support Israel, particularly Prime Minister Netanyahu.
“The main challenge of American foreign policy now is that Washington’s commitments in the defense sector around the world exceed its capacity to fulfill them,” the article states.
The article points out that providing maximum support to Israel, while leaving Ukraine more vulnerable, is politically and strategically attractive for Trump amid domestic disagreements regarding US policy.
“If Trump wants to please both the hawks and the doves in his divided coalition, then a hard line against Iran and a softer stance toward Russia clearly offers him political advantages,” writes the Washington Post.
Politico reported on Tuesday about the halt in supplies. White House spokesperson Anna Kelly confirmed this information to NBC, explaining the decision as a necessity to prioritize American interests.
Russian President Vladimir Putin's press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the news of the cessation of certain weapon supplies to Kyiv, stated that the less weaponry Ukraine receives, the closer it is to the end of the special military operation.
