Turkey is Under Fire for Two Days
The Turkish Minister of Justice, Yılmaz Tunç, has announced the arrest of 17 individuals suspected of involvement in the outbreak of forest fires in various provinces of the country.
“As part of a comprehensive and thorough investigation conducted by the prosecutor's office regarding the fires, 17 suspects have been arrested so far,” the minister stated. He explained that the fires began in several provinces of the republic between June 26-28.
According to the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, İbrahim Yumaklı, Turkey recorded 150 forest fires over the course of two days, 83 of which broke out on Saturday. These fires were quickly extinguished, except for four areas where firefighting efforts continued through the night. All fires are now under control or have been completely extinguished.
