US Deploys Five Missile Destroyers in the Mediterranean

The United States has deployed five missile destroyers equipped with anti-missile systems in the Mediterranean Sea. This was reported by USNI News, citing military sources.
“The United States has stationed five guided missile destroyers armed with anti-missile weapons in the Mediterranean Sea,” the publication states.
According to the source, two destroyers based at the Naval Station Rota in Spain, USS Paul Ignatius and USS Oscar Austin, have entered the Mediterranean Sea to join three other ships: USS Arleigh Burke, USS Thomas Hudner, and USS The Sullivans. It is noted that all five destroyers are capable of intercepting ballistic missiles.
