Russian Foreign Ministry Warns of Nuclear Threat in the Caspian Sea Region
There is a nuclear threat in the Caspian Sea region. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. According to her, Russia is doing everything possible to bring the situation around Iran and Israel back to the negotiating table.
“We urge and are doing everything to bring the parties back to the negotiating table; we understand what a physical threat this poses to the entire region. The Caspian Sea is not just about Iran. The Caspian Sea is relevant to several countries, including our own. This is of immediate significance to us. Israel has access to another water basin that borders several other states. Remember Fukushima. That was a local story. Japan had the opportunity to localize the disaster,” the diplomat said.
Zakharova added that Israel has no reason to take action against Iran. She stated that due to Israeli strikes, the world is just a few centimeters away from a nuclear disaster. The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry also noted that Iran's nuclear program should be a subject of negotiations, not aggressive actions.
