Local Products Are a Costly Pleasure: Why Are They Not Accessible to Everyone?

During the summer season, the prices of locally produced seasonal fruits in Armenian shops and markets continue to remain high. According to the consumer price index for January and July 2024, the prices of vegetables have increased by 9.8%, with potatoes rising by 26.8%. Compared to the previous year, tomato prices have also gone up. Despite constant calls to utilize local products, most consumers find it more practical to opt for imported goods, as they are relatively cheaper.
