Victims of Explosion Will Not Be Left Without Shelter, Says Minister
“Currently, there are 4 confirmed fatalities as a result of the explosion, and one more person is still being searched for. Of the 12 injured, 2 have been discharged from the hospital. None of the victims’ lives are in danger,” reaffirmed Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Davit Khudatyan during a conversation with reporters in Chambarak.
The minister noted that the evaluation of material damage will take place soon. “Right now, the staff of the Gegharkunik Regional Administration is assessing the situation, after which the government will take necessary measures to mitigate the consequences. Unfortunately, we have had similar incidents before. The government is responding appropriately,” he stated.
According to Khudatyan, evacuated residents will not be left outside and will be provided with essential shelter and conditions. “Hotels and guesthouses in the area have been registered, and residents who need housing will certainly receive all necessary conditions for shelter. I want to assure that everything necessary will be done so that those affected by the disaster are not left without shelter and essential conditions, after which decisions will be made about the building and steps towards long-term solutions,” he added.
Earlier, it was reported that at 08:34 today, the Gegharkunik Regional Rescue Service's crisis management center received a call indicating that a fire had broken out in one of the apartments of a building on Garegin Nzhdeh Street in Chambarak city.
