Preliminary Cause of Explosion Identified: Criminal Proceedings Initiated

On June 11, 2025, an explosion occurred in the building number 4 on Tigran Mets street in the city of Chambarak, resulting in a collapse, fatalities, and injuries. The preliminary cause of the explosion has been identified as a gas leak.

In an interview with Auroranews.am, officials from the Investigative Committee announced that a criminal case has been initiated regarding the explosion in Chambarak.

Based on the report, on June 11, 2025, the Gegharkunik regional investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee initiated criminal proceedings under Article 412, Part 2, Clause 2 of the Criminal Code (circulation of raw materials or goods not corresponding to safety requirements, performance of works, or provision of services that has negligently caused death, serious injury to health, or other serious consequences).

During the pre-investigation, urgent investigative actions have been carried out. As a result of the explosion, four individuals have died, and 7 adults along with 4 minors have been hospitalized with various injuries at the health center in Chambarak.

During the investigation, a comprehensive examination and forensic examinations of the bodies have been appointed. Search and rescue operations continue by the staff of the Rescue Service, as well as investigators who are members of the investigative group inspecting the scene.
