India Offers to Send 40,000 Students to Armenia: Arshakyan
India is prepared to send up to 40,000 students to Armenia for education. This announcement was made by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Hakob Arshakyan, during the APRI Armenia Conference.
“To be honest, I was surprised. Because we do not have the capacity to accept 40,000 students. That's why it's extremely important to have this capacity when it comes to cooperation with such a large country,” Arshakyan noted.
He added that the expansion of educational potential is linked to the project of establishing an 'Academic City' in Armenia. “Already, 3,000 students from India are studying in Armenia. They could number 30,000 or 60,000 if we have that capacity. They want to be educated in Armenia,” emphasized the Deputy Speaker.
The parliament member further noted that Armenia and India are also developing cooperation in other sectors. It should be recalled that the Armenian government plans to build an academic city, relocating universities and research institutions to gather them on one platform. According to the project, the academic city will include a railway station and special tram lines. In the first phase, besides the railway station, the sports complex and a multifunctional concert hall of the academic city will be designed.
