In Armenia, They Are Aware: Zakharova

We have not received any signal from official Yerevan regarding the withdrawal of the Russian military base located in Armenia. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a news briefing on June 11.

According to her, officials of the Republic have confirmed, including publicly, that such issues are not on the agenda.

“They are aware in Armenia that the Russian military base is not only an important component of the country's security, but also of the overall security architecture of the region,” she stated.

Zakharova noted, “The deployment and activities of the base are regulated by relevant bilateral agreements between Armenia and Russia. This issue has never been raised by anyone in the context or platform of our cooperation with Azerbaijan.”
