Curfew Declared in Los Angeles

Julya

The Mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, and Police Chief Jim McDonnell have declared a curfew in certain areas of downtown in response to protests against immigration service raids. This was announced by Bass on the social media platform X.

The curfew will be in effect from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM for several days. She stated that the city has suffered significant damage, but the curfew pertains to only a one-square-mile area. According to her, residents of that area and accredited media will not be impacted.

The Chief of Police emphasized that the curfew is necessary “to save lives and protect property” following several days of unrest. He also noted that 27 people were arrested on Saturday, 40 on Sunday, 114 on Monday, and 197 on Tuesday.

Previously, it was reported that protests against immigration policy in Los Angeles have escalated into violent clashes. Protesters are demonstrating against the deportation of illegal immigrants.
