National Guard Troops Arrive in Los Angeles

Protests against immigration policies in Los Angeles have escalated into violent clashes. The first troops of the National Guard have arrived to suppress the unrest.

The U.S. military has confirmed that National Guard forces are in Los Angeles amid the turmoil. Tear gas has been deployed as federal agents from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) clashed with protesters for the second consecutive day in the Paramount area of Southeast Los Angeles, where over 80% of the population is Latino.

To disperse the crowd, tear gas and flashbang grenades have been used.
