Police Official Caused 3.7 Million Dram Damage to the State

A police official has caused approximately 3.7 million drams in damage to the state due to the failure to perform their official duties. According to the Anti-Corruption Committee, a high-ranking official in the Ministry of Internal Affairs did not fulfill their service obligations, resulting in significant harm to the legal interests of the state, amounting to about 3.7 million Armenian drams.

Specifically, the investigation revealed that the police official, knowing that the senior inspector of the operational management center under their command had not reported for duty from April 8, 2022, to April 23, 2023, failed to take necessary measures to ensure the inspector's return to work or to document the fact of their absence from service and report it through the appropriate chain of command.

As a result, during the aforementioned period, despite the inspector's failure to fulfill their duties, a total of 3,673,510 Armenian drams in salary and equivalent payments were calculated and paid in their name. The police official has been charged under the first part of Article 441 of the RA Criminal Code for failing to perform their official duties. Based on the investigator's request from the Anti-Corruption Committee, their official capacity has been suspended.

The 3,673,510 Armenian dram damage caused to the state has been fully recovered by the accused during the investigation. The preliminary investigation has been completed, and the case materials have been submitted to the supervising prosecutor with a request for confirmation and forwarding to the court.
