Ukrainian Armed Forces Deny Reports of Refusing Fallen Soldiers' Bodies
The Ukrainian coordinating staff has denied Russian claims that Kyiv has disrupted the exchange of prisoners and the transfer of the remains of fallen soldiers. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine.
“The statements from the Russian side do not correspond to reality and the preliminary agreements regarding both the exchange of prisoners and the repatriation of bodies,” the statement said.
The Ukrainian side assured that an agreement on the repatriation of the remains of the deceased was reached in Istanbul, although the date for this transfer has not been agreed upon.
Earlier, Russian presidential aide and head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, stated that Ukraine has postponed the acceptance of the bodies and the exchange of prisoners indefinitely. According to him, the contact group from the Russian Ministry of Defense has arrived at the border with Ukraine, but Ukrainian representatives did not show up.
