The 'I Have Honor' Faction Nominates a Prime Minister Candidate
The 'I Have Honor' faction has nominated Davit Hambardzumyan as a prime minister candidate.
“Considering the statement made by the Executive Body of the Republican Party of Armenia, the 'I Have Honor' faction of the National Assembly unanimously decided at its meeting held on June 7 of this year to submit a motion of no confidence in the Prime Minister and to nominate Davit Hambardzumyan, the head of the Masis community and a member of the Republican Party Council, as a candidate,” the statement says.
It is noteworthy that during the revolutionary days in April 2018, a group of citizens conducting peaceful gatherings and marches were reportedly subjected to violence driven by hooliganism according to law enforcement. According to the indictment, on April 22, 2018, during an action on Yerevan's Erebuni street, Masis Mayor Davit Hambardzumyan, who, according to the media, is the son-in-law of Arshak Hakobyan, the former chief of security for the police chief Vladimir Gasparyan, used violence against the participants of the action. According to the Investigative Committee, individuals in civilian clothes, mostly wearing medical masks, attacked peaceful protesters, striking them with stones and sticks. There was also violence against citizens using electroshock devices. Hambardzumyan stated that the charges against him have been dropped, as, according to him, he had no connection to the incidents of violence.
