The Purge Continues at the Anti-Corruption Committee

The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that the personnel purge by the head of the Anti-Corruption Committee, Arthur Nahapetyan, is ongoing. Since his appointment as head of the committee on March 20, Nahapetyan has dismissed about 5 heads of departments and 10 investigators between April and June 5.

Official orders for the dismissal of 12 officials have been published on the Anti-Corruption Committee's official website, but the actual number is higher, and according to information received by the newspaper, the purge continues within the system.

We have previously reported that one of those dismissed was the Chief Secretary of the Anti-Corruption Committee, Gerasim Mkrtchyan, who protested against the committee head's decision, fought back, and did not want to submit a voluntary resignation and leave the system. However, his resistance was in vain.

Sources close to the law enforcement system, as reported by "Zhoghovurd," do not rule out that Mkrtchyan's dismissal is related to the well-known "gas gang," which the newspaper uncovered, and that an investigation was launched based on a report by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Armenia, Arpine Sargsyan.
