Intense Attack on Kyiv: Russia Launches Counterstrikes

Russia has carried out an intense attack on Kyiv using missiles and drones during the night. According to Ukrainian officials, at least four people have been killed. Powerful explosions shook the entire city, as reported by Reuters.

The attacks followed a warning from Russian President Vladimir Putin, conveyed through U.S. President Donald Trump, that the Kremlin would retaliate against Kyiv after Ukrainian drones systematically destroyed several Russian strategic bombers deep inside Russia.

Kyiv's Mayor Vitali Klitschko noted that the death toll could rise as rescuers are still searching for people in the rubble. He also reported that 20 individuals were injured, 16 of whom have been hospitalized.

The functioning of the city's metro has been disrupted, as Russian strikes have damaged trains, according to the Kyiv military administration. The attack has resulted in fires in residential buildings across various parts of the city.

Some residents of Kyiv have sought shelter in metro stations or underground parking lots. Ukraine's Air Force reported that the city has been targeted by drones and Caliber cruise missiles.
