Turkey Currently Has No Such Intentions, Says Defense Minister

Turkey is currently training and providing advisory assistance to Syrian military personnel to enhance the country's defense, and Ankara does not intend to withdraw its troops from Syria or relocate their positions in the near future. This was stated by Turkey's Defense Minister Yaşar Güler in a written interview with Reuters.

According to the source, there are currently more than 20,000 Turkish soldiers stationed in Syria. Güler emphasized that it is still “too early” to discuss their withdrawal or relocation from the country.

“A new assessment of the situation can only be made when peace and stability are established in Syria, the threat of terrorism in the region is completely eradicated, our borders' security is ensured, and displaced persons can return to their homes with honor,” said the head of the Turkish Ministry of Defense.

Currently, Ankara controls vast areas in northern Syria. After Turkey's cross-border operations against what it considers terrorist Kurdish militias, dozens of Turkish military bases have been established there.
