Catholicos Aram I Addresses Recent Discussions

The Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia, His Holiness Aram I, has expressed his support for the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and criticized the recent campaign against the Church.

He specifically stated: “In Armenia, we have seen an attitude towards our Church in recent years that aims to marginalize its historical significance. We reject such steps from anyone, from any authority. We stand alongside our Church, Holy Etchmiadzin, as allies and partners. Let us not forget that we are one Church with two pontifical thrones,” emphasized the Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia.

It is worth recalling that during the recent government meeting, the Prime Minister addressed the presence of various household items, including trash, construction debris, old belongings, and clothing in churches. According to the Prime Minister, the accumulation of these various items has resulted in “churches being cluttered.” This statement was criticized by clergymen.

Following this, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made controversial remarks.
