An explosion at a fireworks factory in the northwestern Indian state of Punjab has resulted in casualties and injuries. Indian Express reports that 'at least five people have died and another 34 have been injured following a powerful blast at a two-story fireworks production factory in the Muktsar district of Punjab, which occurred at midnight.'

The explosion was so intense that it led to the collapse of the two-story building, prompting search and rescue operations. The number of casualties may rise as it is likely that people could be trapped under the rubble.
