What Caused the Death of a 1.7-Year-Old Child: Clarification

The Medical Complex of Muratsan has released clarifications regarding the death of a 1.7-year-old boy. The hospital reported that on May 28, a patient born on November 27, 2023, arrived at the emergency department of the Muratsan Medical Complex with a diagnosis of hypovolemic shock and in extreme critical condition.

Upon admission, the child was experiencing vomiting, weakness, and signs of microcirculation disturbance. Laboratory tests were carried out, the results of which were extremely concerning. It is noted that approximately 45 minutes after arriving at the hospital, the child went into cardiac arrest. Relevant measures were taken, and the heart function was restored. Considering the child's extremely critical condition, he was transferred to the Toxicology and Pediatric Intensive Care Clinic.

Furthermore, it should be mentioned that on May 28, 2025, when he accessed the medical facility, according to the mother, the child had had a high fever for 20 days prior, managed with outpatient treatment for 5 days, and then two days before this incident, the child experienced vomiting, was restless, suffered from overall weakness, and was taken to the Muratsan Medical Complex by his mother in a taxi.

It is also noteworthy that back in May 2024, the child had been admitted to the Muratsan hospital, where he stayed for 7 days – 3 days in the Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Clinic and 4 days in the Neonatal Pathology and Pediatric Medical Department. He was later discharged in stable condition under the supervision of the local doctor.

On May 6, 2025, the patient came to the Muratsan Hospital with a referral from the Vedi Medical Center for an X-ray examination and pediatric consultation, where he was diagnosed with acute bronchitis and obstructive syndrome, followed by appropriate treatment.

The child's condition at the Muratsan Medical Complex was assessed as extremely critical, and given this, proper resuscitation measures were taken, and the child received only necessary and indicated medicinal interventions and was connected to equipment. During the course of treatment, the child experienced another cardiac arrest, which was restored through massage. However, around 23:10, the child again went into cardiac arrest, and despite resuscitation efforts, sadly, it was unsuccessful, and at 23:50, the biological death of the child was registered.

The hospital staff extends their deepest condolences to the family regarding the child's death.
