US Inspectors May Enter Iran's Nuclear Facilities
Iran may allow US inspectors to visit its nuclear sites if negotiations between Tehran and Washington yield successful results, declared Mohammad Eslami, the head of Iran's nuclear program, according to Reuters.
Tehran and Washington are expected to enter the sixth round of talks aimed at resolving decades-long disputes over Iran's nuclear program, with US President Donald Trump predicting "good news."
It is "natural that inspectors from hostile countries are not allowed entry, but if a nuclear agreement is reached, we can allow American inspectors working for the International Atomic Energy Agency to visit our nuclear facilities," Eslami stated at a press conference in Tehran.
The two countries are grappling with issues surrounding Iran's uranium enrichment program, which Washington views as a potential pathway to acquiring nuclear weapons and insists on curtailing it. Tehran maintains that its nuclear program is solely for peaceful purposes and considers its enrichment activities a red line.
