We Have the Same Goal: Macron Discusses Issues with Xi Jinping

French President Emmanuel Macron discussed trade issues as well as the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Macron revealed this on the X social network.

“Before my trip to Southeast Asia, I spoke with Chinese President Xi Jinping about our trade relations and key international issues. I reaffirmed France's desire to continue building strong economic relations with China. In this regard, Chinese investments are welcome in France. Therefore, our companies should enjoy the advantages of fair competition in both our countries. That is the key point. We agreed to move forward as quickly as possible on the cognac issue, which is of great importance to our producers. We have the same goal regarding the war unleashed by Russia in Ukraine: to achieve lasting peace. Everything starts with an immediate and unconditional ceasefire,” noted the French President.

According to him, progress should also be made in finding a political solution that can provide peace and security for everyone in the Middle East. “We will work with China to prepare for the Two-State Conference scheduled for June in New York, co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia. At the same time, I welcomed the confirmation of China's high-level participation in the UN Ocean Conference,” added Macron.
