The Real Danger of Armed Conflict Between Azerbaijan and Armenia Remains: Rubio
The real danger of armed conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia remains, and the United States is working to prevent it. This was stated by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio during hearings in the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
“Our primary challenge is to establish peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia. There is a real risk of conflict there, which we are trying to avert,” he said.
According to Rubio, Washington is not only trying to prevent armed intervention but is also addressing issues regarding prisoners and human rights protection in Azerbaijan.
“The reality is that we have to deal with countries that, in many instances, do not serve as ideal models, but we must engage with them for our national interests, and we need to balance all of that—our national interests and diplomacy,” the Secretary of State added.
