Georgy Papoyan on Those Insulting Anna Hakobyan
I would say that mature men, who have insulted and targeted Armenian women for years, surprise me greatly. How can a person who considers himself a man feel aggrieved in a situation where he has only received a response commensurate with his own words? This was stated by the Minister of Economy of Armenia, Georgy Papoyan, during a press briefing in response to a journalist's question regarding the constant discourse from the authorities that hate speech should not be generated, while we see how the Prime Minister's wife speaks about citizens of the Republic of Armenia using various descriptors these days.
‘Instead of being ashamed, those who consider themselves men, when they insult a woman sitting at home with their writings, feel surprised. Why didn’t they feel surprise five, six, or four years ago when they thought about addressing those men and asking them if they felt no shame in gossiping about a woman and insulting her—the mother of children? That question would not have arisen,’ concluded Papoyan.
