Yerevan Unhappy with CSTO's Response: Mirzoyan
Yerevan is not planning to reformat its allied relations with Moscow. This announcement was made by Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan during a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart, responding to a question from a Russian journalist.
“Are we planning to reformat our allied relations with Russia? I want to answer very directly: no. Our obligations and rights, intentions towards one another are clearly written on paper, signed, ratified, and no one has dissolved them. At the same time, the concerns of the Armenian side regarding the fact that the stipulated events and mechanisms have not necessarily always worked in an established manner are known, but this is a completely different issue,” stated Mirzoyan.
He added that in this context, the parties can discuss the effective operation of the established mechanisms, but there are no questions related to reformulating those mechanisms or relations on Yerevan's agenda.
Addressing Armenia's security architecture, Mirzoyan noted that when the Armenian side saw that it was not functioning well, it was forced to reorganize and reconsider the security system, and that process is ongoing.
The minister reminded that Yerevan is not satisfied with the CSTO's response to very specific events and that Armenia has suspended its activities within the framework of the organization. He emphasized that the discussions between Yerevan and Moscow are ongoing, constructive, and that healthy, partnership relations have been established between the two countries.
