New Charges Filed Against Serge Sargsyan
New charges have been filed against Serge Sargsyan. Today, he will stand before the court for the first time regarding this case. He is accused of involvement in a transaction from 20 years ago, which took place during his tenure as Minister of Defense, concerning land dispossession. This was reported by the newspaper 'Hraparak'.
According to the indictment, Serge Sargsyan sold certain parcels of land on Isakov Avenue at a low price to the company 'Toyota-Yerevan', which belongs to the former president. The authorities are leveraging the proximity to Yerablur; however, we previously reported that the majority of the land plots involved in the criminal proceedings are located across the street from Yerablur, with some allocated for the construction of the Chinese embassy. Sargsyan's lawyer has stated that the charges are unfounded and that the Prosecutor's Office has criminalized civil transactions.
