This Position Has Been Confirmed by Putin: Lavrov

Russian President Vladimir Putin has confirmed during a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump that Russia supports a fair resolution to the Ukraine crisis. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Lavrov noted that Russia would not leave the Orthodox Christians of Ukraine in difficulty and would ensure respect for their legitimate rights, while canonical Orthodoxy has regained its central position in the spiritual life of the people of Ukrainian lands.

“The Russian Federation's position is a guarantee for the implementation of the objectives of a fair resolution of the Ukrainian crisis provoked by the West; this position was reaffirmed with all its clarity by President Putin yesterday during his phone conversation with President Trump,” Lavrov said during a reception on the occasion of Orthodox Easter.

He added that the disregard by Kyiv for the initiatives regarding a ceasefire in connection with Easter and Victory Day has not surprised anyone in Moscow.
