The phone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Donald Trump is a significant victory for the Russian Federation. This is reported by the British Financial Times.

"European officials have noted that yesterday's phone call is a major victory for the Russian leader," the statement from the newspaper reads.

In the same article, the newspaper wrote that Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky had "pleaded" with Trump not to withdraw from the negotiation process around Ukraine after the U.S. President's conversation with Putin.

FT recalled that, according to Trump, the terms of the deal can only be agreed upon by the conflicting parties, "since they know the details of the negotiations that no one else will know."
