Some Europeans Call for Military Action, Rubio
The U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated during his visit to Rome that he heard assessments suggesting that Europe desires conflict. He recounted, 'One of the cardinals I met with said something very unusual for us, that the American president wants peace, while some Europeans are continually calling for military operations, as if the world has turned upside down.'
This remark was made during a dinner organized by U.S. President Donald Trump for the board of trustees of the Kennedy Center. Rubio further noted that Trump wishes to avoid large expenditures on defense, arguing that the same amount of money could be invested in economic development instead.
