Samvel Shahramanyan's Term in Office is Expiring

Tomorrow, on May 21, the term of office of Artsakh President Samvel Shahramanyan will come to an end. According to new regulations, within 7 days following the expiration of the term, the parliamentary factions must nominate a candidate for president, after which the parliament must convene within 3 days to elect the president.

David Galstyan, the leader of the 'Justice' faction, told 'Factinfo' in an interview that it is still unknown whom the factions will propose as a candidate. 'We are not yet at the stage of publicizing a candidate's name, and we do not intend to do so to avoid causing harm. I am not aware of whom the other factions will nominate,' Galstyan noted.

When asked whether Shahramanyan would be re-nominated, he responded that he does not know and cannot say if any faction will nominate Shahramanyan, or whether such a proposal has been made or not.
