Russia Ready to Assume Role in Iran Nuclear Deal, Says Foreign Ministry

Russia is prepared to take on the role assigned to it in the U.S.-Iran agreement regarding the Iranian nuclear dossier. This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenkov in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“If an agreement is reached, we will be ready to assume the responsibility that the countries signing the agreement are willing to share with us,” he said.

It is noteworthy that Iran and the United States have conducted four rounds of indirect negotiations. The latest took place on May 11 in Oman. Following the meeting, Iran's Foreign Minister announced that the positions of the parties have moved closer, and progress is being observed in the negotiation process. He emphasized that Iran is prepared to adjust its uranium enrichment level to build trust with the U.S. but does not intend to completely abandon enrichment.

U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated that the deal surrounding Iran’s nuclear program is nearing completion, expressing optimism about preventing military strikes on Tehran’s facilities.
