‘I Have Honor’ Takes a Stand
The ‘I Have Honor’ parliamentary group has decided not to join the process of nominating Edmond Marukyan as Prime Minister, as presented by the National Assembly members Hovik Aghazaryan and Hakob Aslanyan.
“The members of the ‘I Have Honor’ faction in the National Assembly of Armenia reaffirm our willingness, expressed on May 6 of this year, to discuss the prime ministerial candidacy without preconditions and to initiate a process of expressing distrust towards the prime minister. However, we have decided not to join the process of nominating Edmond Marukyan as the prime ministerial candidate, proposed by National Assembly members Hovik Aghazaryan and Hakob Aslanyan. The candidate being presented does not differ in any way from the current officials in terms of political trajectory and bears equal responsibility for the dire situation in our country,” the statement reads.
In other words, the ‘I Have Honor’ faction opposes the replacement of Nikol Pashinyan with a “Nikol Pashinyan 2,” and therefore, we see no need for a meeting with the candidate. Nevertheless, the proposing parliamentarians can contact the ‘I Have Honor’ faction for additional information regarding our decision,” the message stated.
It should be noted that earlier it was reported that former My Step party members Hakob Aslanyan and Hovik Aghazaryan proposed Edmond Marukyan as a Prime Ministerial candidate.
