Ministry of Internal Affairs: Theories on 2-Year-Old Tigran's Disappearance and False Alarm

Search operations have resumed since early morning, with around 300 rescuers and about 100 police officers currently involved. This was stated by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Narek Sargsyan, in a conversation with NEWS.am.

“Search operations are being conducted along the entire length of the river, in the reservoir area, as well as in the village, adjacent areas, and neighboring communities. The police, in collaboration with law enforcement partners, the National Security Service, and the Investigation Committee, are verifying all proposed theories,” he said.

Addressing the information circulated two days ago about a call made to the family with the sound of a child crying, the spokesperson noted: “The police and rescue services are in daily contact with the family. Any suspicious call or information, or any theories brought up by them, are immediately reported to the police and become the subject of discussion and verification. Regarding the mentioned call, I can say that the police immediately identified the caller and discovered that it was a child who made a misguided call. In this regard, I would also like to appeal to our community not to publish unverified information and not to engage in actions that could affect the emotional state of the family members, who are already in a difficult situation. We will call for refraining from publishing unverified and unfounded information.”

As for the information about Romani people being seen in the village, Narek Sargsyan responded: “I can say the same regarding this information. All individuals and vehicles present in that street at the time indicated by the parents have been checked. At this point, I can say that the main theory remains that the child fell into the river. But I repeat, all options are being simultaneously examined. Drones are being used, and divers are frequently diving to conduct search operations, also in neighboring areas and communities.”
