A 4.4 magnitude earthquake has been recorded near the famous Phlegraean Fields volcanic area in the Naples region of Italy. According to TASS, this was reported by the Italian National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology.

The epicenter was located about 12 kilometers west of Naples, which has a population of approximately 974,000 residents, and the focus was 3 kilometers deep. Tremors were felt in the historic center of Naples. The metro services in the city have been suspended.

There have been no reports of injuries or damage. No tsunami warning has been issued. As a precautionary measure, train services in the area have been halted. Experts are checking the railway lines to determine if they have sustained any damage, stated the railway operator Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane.
