This Should Be Our Primary Goal: Avinyan
Our primary goal should be to create a stable and secure environment where war is replaced by mutual respect, tolerance, and safety. This was stated by Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan on Facebook.
“Today we celebrate the 80th anniversary of victory over fascism as a symbol of the defense of universal human values. The Armenian people played a decisive role in that struggle; more than half a million Armenians participated in the war, of which approximately 300,000 fell victim to disaster. Since the onset of the war, Yerevan, along with other cities of the USSR, has been engaged in the difficult task of ensuring victory by providing communication devices, ammunition, radio technology, medical supplies, and more for the front lines. Hundreds of sons of the Armenian people have been awarded the highest honors of the USSR. Armenians fought on the Western fronts and in partisan and underground movements, becoming heroes in fierce battles and serving as examples of selflessness and courage.
Today, the world faces serious challenges, where vigilance, resilience, and will are companions for small nations. Our primary goal should be to create a stable and secure environment where war is replaced by mutual respect, tolerance, and safety. We bow before the memory of heroes and reaffirm our commitment to building a peaceful future,” he wrote.
