No War Between Armenia and Azerbaijan: Pashinyan

No War Between Armenia and Azerbaijan: Pashinyan

Dear people, beloved citizens of the Republic of Armenia, today we celebrate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet Union and the Western Allies in World War II.

This was written by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan: "This war broke out due to the Nazi (fascist) ideology established in Germany and several of its allied countries, whose key content was that one nation or a group of nations is superior to another or others. And numerous nations and states around the world gathered to prove the opposite and triumphed.

The Armenian people also contributed to this victory as part of the Soviet Union, in the Western Allied armies, and among the underground resistance groups. Today we pay tribute to all our compatriots.

This day also confronts the world with the dangers of Nazism, fascism, totalitarianism, and all its manifestations, which stand in opposition to the freedom and happiness of individuals, peoples, and states, the main goal of which is dominion, inciting wars, and restricting freedoms.

The Republic of Armenia is moving towards a different path of freedom, democracy, and peace. This is by no means an easy road, but it is a path worth taking, and in order to fully traverse this path and reach an irreversible destination, confidence, faith, circumspection, and consistency are essential.

To travel this path, it is necessary to be courageous, sincere, and to engage in thorough self-reflection, to read, understand deeply, and interpret the messages directed to us from our history.

A significant part of my activities in recent years has been devoted to discussions with the citizens of the Republic of Armenia regarding the philosophy of a Real Armenia. This is an extremely important process. The philosophy of a Real Armenia is the result of reading and rereading our history; it is the outcome of interpreting the messages from Historical Armenia, which tell us not to follow my path, but to focus on building a country of freedom, happiness, and prosperity in our dreamland—the Republic of Armenia—and the challenge of passing this happy state down from generation to generation.

Today we have that opportunity and must seize it. Today we also have the opportunity to contribute to the peaceful and prosperous future of our region; the draft agreement on establishing Peace and interstate relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan has been agreed upon and awaits signing, and we will go down that path.

Our region has earned the right to live in peace and prosperity, and it must be so. Despite all internal and external provocations, there will be no war between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan; there will be peace.

Glory to the martyrs and long live the Republic of Armenia!"
