200 Million Dram Worth of Drugs Found on Man Arriving from Athens

On May 1, a case of drug smuggling was recorded, as reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The officers of the Criminal Police's Drug Trafficking Control Division, through extensive operational measures, obtained information that a 52-year-old man arriving in Yerevan from abroad had a large quantity of various drugs in his luggage. The information was forwarded to the State Revenue Committee for appropriate surveillance.

Criminal police combating illegal drug trafficking, while finalizing operational data, collaborated with the Customs Anti-Smuggling Division of the State Revenue Committee and the Community Police Division at Zvartnots International Airport.

As a result, the luggage of the 52-year-old man was subjected to a customs inspection after the Athens-Yerevan flight arrived. Over 4,000 pills of ecstasy, 970 grams of cocaine, 885 subutex pills containing buprenorphine, 5 grams of damaged pieces of the same pill, as well as 15 blister packs with various inscriptions were found.

The market value of the discovered drugs exceeds at least 200 million drams.
