Police Brutally Assault Man, Lawyer Raises Alarm

With the permission of my client, I am publishing the video and photos provided by him, which document the violence inflicted by the Armavir police against him. According to the victim, the police first assaulted him in his home, then took him to the police station, where they continued to beat him and covered his mouth with tape. This was stated by lawyer Ara Ghazaryan on his Facebook page.

"The victim has filed a complaint with the Office of the Prosecutor General of Armenia, but so far there has been no response. I am asking: Arpi Sargsyan, is this the result of real reforms? How can the police exhibit such behavior? Why should a citizen be taken to the police station and return with such injuries? Until when can we tolerate the violence and torture inflicted on citizens? When will this dangerous practice of leaving violations unpunished finally come to an end? As always, the Helsinki Association, a human rights NGO, will be working on this case and fighting for the culprits to be punished," he wrote.
